They are those in which we classify qualities (attributes) of research elements into categories that cannot be ordered. They are known as Nominal Qualitative Variables (they cannot be hierarchical or ordered, eg blood type – O, A , B and AB). There is not a major and a minor category, there is not a better and a worse category, that is, there is no order between these qualities.
